The Picture media painted for us...

Yesterday in class we were discussing how media have effected our lives and what image it presents. We see all these skinny models and celebs and automatically think that it is the ideal body structure but what is really the ideal body structure? There are many products like Dove and Special K that are promoting healthy rather than skinny body.
The advertising campaigns for Special K say look good on your own terms. What it basically means that one should not how others tell them to be but be what they want to be.
What is being attractive? Am sure that the definition differs from one person to another.
I have looked at many of the special K ADS and I would have to say am impressed they were very true and effective. It aims to help people understand that being healthy is not about being skinny... Here are some of the ads that I personally like:

IF ONLY DESIGNERS HAD TO LIVE UP TO THE SAME STANDARDS THEY'VE SET FOR US.

A WOMAN'S VALUE SHOULD NOT BE DETERMINED BY THE POUND

DON'T LET IT MEASURE YOUR SELF ESTEEM

I think that everyone should consider this and it is a very important matter today as the media invades not only our homes but our minds.
